The HOUSE of
BLUE
LEAVES
By
John Guare
Directed
by Ann Filmer
Featuring Ensemble Members Doug McDade, Eileen Niccolai, and Linda Reiter
Stuck
playing dive bars in 1965 Queens,
middle-aged zookeeper Artie Shaughnessy dreams of finding fame and
fortune as a
composer for Hollywood movies.
However, on
this particular day chasing stardom is the least of Artie’s concerns.
His
mistress Bunny has refused to cook for him until they are married; his
mentally
ill wife is being particularly eccentric; and most alarmingly, his AWOL
son
Ronnie is plotting to assassinate the visiting Pope. When the starlet
girlfriend of an old acquaintance makes a surprise visit, Artie
glimpses a
golden opportunity to leave his troubles behind him. But with a trio of
crazed
nuns on the loose, the police on his doorstep, and time ticking away,
he finds
that the chaos is only just beginning. Set against the turbulent
backdrop of
the 1960s, the outrageous ingredients in Guare’s comedy of misplaced
ambition
are certain to prove explosive.

DEALER’S
CHOICE
By
Patrick Marber
Directed
by Steve Scott
Featuring Ensemble Members Brian McCaskill and Doug McDade
From the author of Closer comes a hilarious and
enthrallingly detailed portrait of male relationships framed by a world
of
addiction and betrayal. In a modest London
restaurant, small-time gamblers Sweeney, Frankie and Mugsy serve food,
bicker,
and concoct far-flung schemes as they prepare for their weekly poker
game with
restaurant owner Stephen and his debt-ridden son Carl. After countless
nights
spent around the same table the players know the odds and each another
inside
out. But their friendly game takes a sudden and serious turn when a
suspiciously skilled newcomer enters their midst. On this night deep
wounds are
exposed and old scores must be settled as the desperate would-be
winners vie
for supremacy. By turns hauntingly brutal and startlingly sincere, this
biting
comic drama is a compelling account of the risks and rewards of life’s
high-stakes gambles.
